Chinese gold miners letter

Chinese Gold Miners Letter

23/03/1865

Hello it is your dearest son Zion. I traveled by boat from China to Australia, then to Dunedin. Then traveled on a horse to Gabriel’s Gully where I now live.

I am living in a poorly made, cold and wooden hut with a lot of other people.

I was very scared on the first day because I didn’t know anyone there. I worked my hardest to find that gold and hopefully by the time you are reading this I should have found that gold and be out.

Yours sincerely,
Zion.
