Speech

Why michael jordan is the best basketball player?

I’ve missed more than 9000 shots in my career.
I’ve lost almost 300 games.
26 times I’ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed.
I’ve failed over and over again and in my life and
“That's why I succeed.
This is a quote from what I think is the best basketball player ever Michael Jordan and I am going to talk about why I think he is!

His shot.
One of the first clutch moments of his career was “the shot” to sink the Cleveland Cavaliers in the first round of the 1989 Eastern conference playoffs. Just as famous as his shot itself was his reaction, which has been immortalized on posters,in bedrooms and most importantly around the country. It wasn’t good enough to drive him to his championship, though not yet.

His NBA titles.
Nobody will ever be able to catch up with Bill Russell for most NBA championships but his era was completely different from Jordan's. M.J still managed to guide the bulls to six NBA titles and he won the finals MVP award all six times he won.

The shrug.
It can’t always be explained,as Jordan would have readily admitted in the 1992 finals, when he caught fire from behind the arc against the portland trail blazers which was not his usual repertoire. All he could do at the time was shrug his shoulders , just like nba fans around the country. Michael Jordan performed the famous shrug playing against Trail Blazers and shooting the game winning 3 pointer.

Three peat.
The golden standard for winning championships in today's NBA is to win not just one title, but three in a row. Jordan did that twice in his career, taking a break in between to give minor league baseball a shot.

Dunk champion.
Jordan won two NBA Slam Dunk titles. Those obviously aren't as significant as his MVPs and championships, but those events captured his enormous basketball legacy and how he could generate a buzz like no other, emulating Dr. J on his way to dunking from the free-throw line.

In conclusion all these reasons definitely proves Michael Jordan is the best basketball player. I am going to finish this speech with a quote from the man himself “I can accept failure everyone fails at something. But I can’t accept not trying.”

My whanau story

My Mother
It all started back when my grandmother gave birth to a pretty little baby girl,my mother.

Sadly I wasn’t around to see what she grew up to be but I’m sure it was quite hard back then. As she grew up she told me that she done everything right and would be pretty disappointed. Anyways later on in her life she meet a handsome young man that turned out to be my father.

They went on to have babies but sadly their first one was a miscarriage. Her second babies were twins, both a girl and a boy. They spent a lot of time together but then they had another baby,my older sister. My older twin brother and sister and my older sister had a 3 year age gap but still spent together until it was my time to come into the family and obviously becoming the cutest out everyone and being the favourite. We have all grown up to be mature teenagers now though but still, I was the favourite baby. I got a lot of love and now  I’m just an annoying brother.

Now it was time to have another set of twins, my annoying little brothers. Me and my brothers done everything together though,we played sport together, argued together and we just wrecked a lot of things. Now I want to talk about my sporting years. It all began all the way back in 2010 when my mum put me and my brothers in a league team and we loved it, and the game. I was 5 and my brothers were 4 but we still wrecked and my mum was quite proud of me and my brothers, it went from a team no one I’ve ever met before to a brotherhood where everyone got treated each other the same. It was actually quite a good experience for me and my brothers because throughout all the 7 years we’ve played we’ve only lost 10 games and played a lot of games.

So now I’m going talk about my school years because I don’t want to say to about sport, but all you need to know is that I’m good at it.Anyway it started the year I played sport. I’m not going to go too far into my school years because it’ll take too long to read so I’ll just skip to the part when I became popular. It was last year at primary when technically everyone knew me because I was a good leader. A leader for sport, Kapa haka and school associated things.
I’m not going to talk about my intermediate years because I’d rather wait until the end of next year so I can just summarize everything I’ve done but it’s been a good couple of terms anyways.

Sorry about that I got a little too into talking about myself and now I’ll talk more about how much of a big part she was in my life.

She had a hard time dealing with me and all my siblings but we all loved each other the same. All I want to say is, thank you for always being there for me, through thick and thin you’ll always be my mother and I’ll always care about you.
